The University of Alberta awards over $50 million in undergraduate scholarships each year, so whether you're a scholastic achiever, community leader or well-rounded student, we've got an award fit for you.
The undergraduate scholarships and awards are available for current UAlberta students and students at the end of their degree program, as well as those entering a professional program, an after-degree program or applying to transfer from another post-secondary institution.
With just one application, you’ll be assessed for awards and scholarships based on academics, leadership, equity and need. Applications for the next cycle will open in February 2026.
What type of student are you?
Entrance*
I am entering the University of Alberta directly from high school OR I have taken time off between high school and attending the University of Alberta and have received no post-secondary credit during that time
Eligible to apply for entrance scholarships and awards through Awards Hub from Oct. 1 to Jan. 10
Transfer
I am entering the University of Alberta directly from another post-secondary institution OR I have taken time off and previously attended another post-secondary institution where I received university credit before entering the University of Alberta
Continuing
I am a current, returning or convocating undergraduate University of Alberta student OR I am entering an undergraduate Professional Program at the University of Alberta - Doctor of Medicine, Law or Pharmacy
Eligible to apply for current undergraduate, transfer or professional scholarships and awards through Awards Hub from Feb. 1 to Mar. 31
*Automatic consideration is given for admission-based entrance awards - no application required
Eligibility
Depending on the scholarship or award, selection will be based on academic standing and/or demonstrated exceptional leadership. Secondary criteria may include but are not limited to; financial need, residency, extracurricular activities and/or previous award funding. Funding levels vary annually and selection is competitive. Meeting the base eligibility requirements does not guarantee an offer.
Eligibility requirements
Academic scholarships
Applicants must achieve a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a minimum of 24 credits over the most recent September to April period.
Leadership awards
Applicants must achieve a minimum GPA of 2.0 on a full-time course load over the most recent September to April period.
Scholarships and awards funded by the Government of Alberta
Applicants must be an Alberta Resident as defined by the Alberta Scholarship Act.
Continuing scholarships and awards
Applicants must be continuing full-time in an undergraduate or professional program at the University of Alberta in September 2025 and January 2026.
Graduating scholarships and awards
Applicants must be graduating from an undergraduate or professional program at the University of Alberta.
Professional entrance or transfer scholarships
Applicants must present an admission average that meets or exceeds those required for a specific scholarship.
The total value of scholarships and awards already received by an applicant may be considered in the selection for these competitions.

Awards + Scholarships
Undergraduate Awards
Recognizes top-achieving students based on academic standing and/or exceptional leadership through school and community involvement.
Graduating Awards
Awarded to top students graduating from their faculty or program.
Professional Entrance Awards
Awarded to students entering a professional program (Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Law, Medical Laboratory Science, Radiation therapy).
After-degree or Post-secondary Transfer Awards
Awarded to students entering an after-degree program or transferring from another post-secondary institution.
First Nations, Métis and Inuit Awards
Various awards specific to First Nations, Métis and Inuit students. More information on page First Nations, Métis and Inuit Awards.
Prizes
Awarded to top students in a course or set of courses. No application is required as students are automatically considered in conjunction with faculties where needed.

Decision Notifications
The Office of the Registrar will notify all applicants by the end of September. These applications could also be used for the duration of the upcoming academic year as new funding presents itself.
