Guest tickets for Fall (November) Convocation

First, reserve a seat for yourself! You don’t need a ticket, but we need to know that you are coming to your ceremony. Update your attendance to Yes on the Graduation Status page (in the Academics section in Bear Tracks) so we can reserve a seat for you with your fellow graduates. You can change your attendance back to No if your plans change, until November 18.

Second, look after your guests! Guest tickets are only available as electronic tickets from Ticketmaster. All tickets are assigned to specific seats. There is no charge for tickets, but ticket quantities will be limited. Only graduates who attend their convocation ceremony will be eligible to obtain guest tickets. After obtaining your guest tickets, make sure to transfer the electronic tickets to your guests so they can enter the auditorium and get to their seats.

Please note: The seating policy at the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium stipulates that every person must have a ticketed seat, including babies and children. Babies and children cannot be seated with graduates as only one seat is allocated per graduate, and babies and children must not be carried or accompany the graduate across the stage at the ceremony. Doing so places the graduate, venue and university at risk should a baby, child, or graduate become injured. Please make arrangements for babies and children to be seated with your guests.

Guest tickets will be distributed in three rounds, beginning on October 26. You will be required to enter a passcode to unlock the tickets on the Ticketmaster site. Your passcode is your 7-digit U of A student ID number.

Don’t miss out! We strongly recommend getting your guest tickets as soon as the tickets become available. If you miss getting tickets in any round, you will not be able to obtain those tickets after the distribution round has closed. There will be no exceptions.

Tips for accessing guest tickets on Ticketmaster:

1. Clear your browsing history/cache on your device before logging into Bear Tracks.
2. Make sure your device is running the latest version of its operating system.
3. Download the Ticketmaster app to ensure easy access to your tickets.
4. Set up a Ticketmaster account, if you don’t already have one. Every student must have their own Ticketmaster account.
5. Enter your email address carefully to get your tickets in your account.
6. Make sure you select the correct ceremony date and time.
7. When asked for a passcode to unlock the tickets, enter your 7-digit U of A student ID number.
8. Select the number of tickets you require in the ticket quantity dropdown box (1, 2, or 3 tickets).
9. Choose the specific seats you want by clicking the blue dots on the seat map; on a mobile device, select Switch to Map to use the seat map to select your seats.
10. Select your seats carefully! All tickets are assigned to specific seats. Check the row and seat numbers on the tickets you select before checking out to confirm that these are the seats you want. Tickets cannot be exchanged or swapped for different seats after you have checked out.
11. Transfer your tickets to your guests, if you are able, to allow for you and your guests to be seated in a timely manner as graduate and guest seating are not together.

Round 1: October 26 – November 10

The Ticketmaster site will open at 10 a.m. on October 26. You can access the site by clicking the Guest Tickets link on the Graduation Status page in Bear Tracks.

Don’t miss getting access on the first day of round 1! Make sure you update your attendance in Bear Tracks before October 19. If you update your attendance after October 19 you will have to wait at least one week before you can access the Ticketmaster site.

If you are attending your ceremony, you will be eligible to obtain a maximum of three* guest tickets in round 1.

If you have a guest that requires accessible seating (wheelchair user, limited mobility, etc.), you can select up to two seats that are indicated on the seat map with a wheelchair symbol. The wheelchair symbol will become visible after you enter your passcode (student ID number) to unlock the tickets. You can select your third guest ticket (if required) from a row nearby. Accessible seating in the first balcony can be accessed by elevator.

Round 2: November 16 – 23

Once round 1 has closed, ticket availability will be determined. If any tickets remain, they will be made available for distribution in round 2, but ticket quantities will be limited. You will need to use your passcode again to unlock the tickets in round 2.

Round 3: November 24 and 25

If any tickets remain after round 2 has closed, they will be available on the day of your ceremony. The Ticketmaster site will open each day at 7 a.m. for that day’s ceremonies. No passcode will be required, but ticket quantities may be limited. Tickets will also be available to the public on these dates. Tickets may also be available at the Jubilee Auditorium box office one hour before your ceremony.

*Guest ticket availability is based on previous attendance records. The Office of the Registrar, therefore, reserves the right to change the number of guest tickets, as required, according to graduate attendance.

Have a viewing party!

If you can’t get tickets for everyone that would like to attend your ceremony, all University of Alberta Convocation ceremonies are livestreamed the day of the ceremony. The link can be found on the U of A home page during the ceremonies.

Accessibility

Location + Parking

Plan for extra time to get to Convocation. There are construction projects on campus that may affect access to parking and the campus will be busy with many other graduates and their families heading to Convocation.

Parking is available in the Jubilee Carpark located adjacent to the Jubilee Auditorium. Surface parking is available on the south side. A parking fee will be charged during the ceremony. See Parking Lot locations for parking rates and more parking options.
