Get a Warm Welcome to Edmonton
Arriving in Edmonton between August 1 and September 30, 2026?
New international students can receive a $25 taxi voucher to help cover the cost of travel from Edmonton International Airport (YEG) to their accommodation.
How It Works
- The voucher is valued at $25 CAD and can be used one time only
- You must pay the remaining fare directly to the driver
- Example: If your fare is $75, you pay $50 and provide the $25 voucher
- Payment can be made by cash or major credit card
How to Get Your Voucher
- Check your @ualberta.ca email in mid-July to apply
- Your voucher will be sent as a PDF attachment
- Print the voucher and present it to the driver before your trip begins
Where to Go at the Airport
After landing at Edmonton International Airport:
- Visit the Airport Welcome Booth
- Open August 17 – August 31 | 11 a.m. – 9:00 (MT)
- Located on Level 1 near Exit 9, Edmonton International Airport Map.
Using Your Voucher
- Valid only for taxi rides from the airport to your destination
- Must be used with participating taxi companies
- Not valid for rideshare services (Uber or Lyft)
Transportation Options from the Airport
Taxi (Recommended)
- Available 24/7 at the airport
- Estimated fare: $50 – $85 CAD (within Edmonton)
- Tip: 15% is customary
- Confirm the fare with the driver before departure
Public Transit (ETS Route 747)
- Runs 7 days a week (4:10 a.m. – 12:30 a.m.)
- Cost: $6 CAD (cash)
- Route: Airport → Century Park Transit Centre. From there, take the LRT (light rail transit) to your destination
